The SCALon Idea:

The idea of ShowCase Africa In London (SCALon) Weekend  is to bring together professionals  and entrepreneurs living in the UK to interact informally over a weekend of Afro-centric activities in London ranging from the Performing Arts, Entertainment, Discussion and Food of African taste pivoting around a particular event of the planned weekend in London.

The events will be self catering (i.e. participants attending the activities included in the events will be responsible for booking their tickets / pay related bills themselves where applicable)

Participants can "Hop on and off" the organised activities i.e. they may join any or all of the planned activities in the itinerary as they please.

The planning and organising of these weekend events will be done collaboratively with groups of professionals and entrepreneurs of African heritage living in London representing their various niche of Afro-centric causes and ventures.

 

The SCALon Aims:

The showcase activities are conducted so as to:

• Facilitate dialogue between professionals and entrepreneurs of African Heritage in London and their colleagues, aquaintances, and friends over informal activities
• Promote and advocate the Africa culture in London
• Enhance the positive image of the Afro-Caribbean community in London
• Create better understanding of the Professional African in London outside work environment
• Provide pointers of Afro-centric events in London and giving a guided tour of them
• Create new audience for Afro-centric events and endeavours through networks of networks

The SCALon For All:

The showcase weekend activities attempts at catering for professionals and entrepreneurs of all backgrounds and heritage to engage with the ongoings in the African community in London.

 

Whether or not you are of African descent, SCALon is for you to come enjoy a variety of Afrocentric discussions, entertainment, cultural activities and cuisine

 

The SCALon Format:

SCALon showcase activities will be planned for at least 4 times in the year with at least 1 held in each calendar quarter pivoting around events happening in the African community in London.

 

The activities will span over a weekend (Friday evening to Sunday evening) as follows:

• Friday
  • - Showcasing small to medium size social / responsible enterprise, projects, ventures and organisation of members of the Afro-Caribbean community with a view at promoting their endeavours, creating potential new audience to their causes and enhancing their networks outreach.

     

• Saturday
  • - Showcasing Afrocentric entertainment and cultural activities in celebration of African culture in London

     

• Sunday
  • - Showcasing restuarant of African cuisine in London

The SCALon Challenge:

Come join us on as many of the activities you are able to and add as much thread to the fabric of the Afro-Caribbean community in London through your engagement and participation.

 

Do you know of:

• small to medium size social / responsible enterprise, projects, ventures or organisation by members of the Afro-Caribbean community that will benefit and interested in showcasing their work / activities at a SCALon event
• corporate conference venues that we could use to host our Friday evening's showcase
• potential sponsors who would be interested in supporting our events
• funding bodies that would like to do some community outreach engagements with
